 Одно из направлений экономической политики государства, решающее общие и смежные вопросы с такими ее направлениями, как бюджетная политика, финансовая политика, денежная политика и т.п. – вопросы, связанные с функционированием и регулированием «финансового сектора» экономики (См. Банки, «Классическая дихотомия»). Среди задач валютной политики: поддержание оптимального (по критерию эффективности экономики в целом) курса национальной валюты, защита финансовых интересов государства на международных валютных биржах, в финансовых отношениях с иностранными государствами. Среди инструментов В.п. – валютные резервы, валютные интервенции, валютные ограничения, на определенных этапах: обязательная сдача предприятиями валютной выручки или ее части, и др. Главный результат реализации валютной политики российского государства, объявленной правительством реформаторов в 1992 году, – превращение рубля в свободно конвертируемую валюту (СКВ), признанную и уважаемую в мире. Эта задача была выполнена в 2007 году. В настоящее время ставится даже задача превращения рубля в одну из резервных валют (пока – так называемого второго порядка, типа британского фунта стерлингов, швейцарского франка, японской йены и др.).
